Beginning just an hour east of Eugene - Springfield along HWY 126, the McKenzie River is composed of a dozen small riverfront communities. There are a few general stores and the ever popular Takoda's Restaurant in Rainbow. During the summer, Belknap Hot Springs Resort offers outdoor BBQ sandwiches. But it's probably a good idea to pack some picnic provisions.

To complete the McKenzie River Edition, allow for at least one overnight in the Cascades. There are a variety of affordable and fun places to stay. Curl up in a cozy cabin, relax at a rustic B&B or pitch your tent at one of many exquisite campgrounds. Depending on the time of year, advance reservations are recommended.

"Webforage and I picked up our "passports" at the visitor center at 9 a.m. and got our 24 caches by 5 p.m. (with a few side caches along the way.) We had to dig the last one out of the snow, so we'll wait [a] few months to get the rest. I've lived here for nearly 50 years and this geotour took us to places I'd never been before. Well done and Thanks! Still plenty of geocoins left to give out from what the staff at the visitor center told us." - dad the neat
