Heroes 2 Oregon Dragon Boat Paddle Challenge
October 15, 2016
Join us for the annual Dragon Boat paddle challenge and be a hero to local wounded veterans!
Time: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Dexter State Park - 20 minutes SE of Eugene off Highway 58.
This year the Paddle Challenge is sponsored , in part, by Guaranty Chevrolet and RV Services and Lane County's Transient Room Tax grant program. It is an annual community event and fundraiser for the Eugene Parks Foundation Veterans Adaptive Sport Project, which "provides funding for injured, ill and disabled Veterans to be able to engage in adaptive sports all year long and encourage veterans to stay active and live a healthy lifestyle."
The paddle challenge is organized by Eugene, Cascades, & Coast Sports Commission, Emerald City Dragon Boat Club and the City of Eugene Adaptive Recreation. We encourage teams comprised of people who have never set foot on a dragon boat before, but would like to try the sport and have a fun day on the water. The event is unique in that corporate/community division teams are assigned an experienced coach/caller for the day who will instruct the novice team on basic dragon boat technique and usher them through the event.
This is an exhibition event (informal and fun!), and the first of its kind in Lane County. All you need to participate is 10 friends/coworkers/family members (14 years or older) and about 35 bucks per person. We'll provide the boats, the life jackets, a steers-person and a caller (as needed) for each boat. You come ready to paddle and have fun! We have a Mixed Division and a Women's Division.

A great opportunity for team-building while fundraising for a great cause!
