Just a little more than an hour from Eugene - Springfield, the Oregon Coast is a beautiful playground all year round. Must-see landmarks along the Oregon Coast include America's largest sea lion cave, the century-old Heceta Head Lighthouse and the massive sand hills of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Thrill seekers can sign up for dune buggy rides or go sandboarding at the world's first sandboarding park. There is so much to do along the Oregon Coast! Cycle or drive the segment of Highway 101 from Dunes City to Cape Perpetua, declared a National Scenic Byway; or take to the skies for an aerial tour of Oregon's distinctive coastline.

Stunning scenic viewpoints all along the highway invite picnicking, storm watching, whale watching and photography. Enjoy easy beach access for beachcombing, kite flying and a variety of ocean sports including surfing and windsurfing. Just off the North Jetty in Florence is Oregon's first official scuba dive park.

If you come across marine debris it is always advisable to regard unknown items with caution. Beachcombers are encouraged to report beach debris appropriately. 

Get an Oregon fishing license and go clamming,crabbing or fishing! Gentle to moderate hiking trails lead to coastal lakes and rivers ideal for lazy rambles and peaceful boating. In Dunes City, many a record-setting trophy fish has been caught at Siltcoos Lake. Spend an afternoon observing the diverse marine and bird habitat from a kayak, or from the links of a golf course edging the pine forest. 

Visit Historic Old Town Florence where the Siuslaw River meets the Pacific Ocean. Here salt-water taffy, antique shopping, and waterfront dining are all top-notch and part of the fun. Watch the tide roll in along a sandy beach at sunset, or roll the dice at the Three Rivers Casino gaming tables. The casino is one of several resort properties along the coast ideal for weddings, parties or large groups. Lodging along the Oregon Coast includes quaint inns, bed and breakfasts, luxury hotels, rental beach cottages, RV parks and campgrounds. Fall asleep to the sound of waves and wake to sound of seagulls. Be the first to walk along the misty beach in the early morning and discover ocean trinkets left by the sea during the night.
