Wineries - Slip outside the city limits into one of Lane County's sixteen wineries nestled into scenic rolling landscapes. Covered Bridges - Lane County is home to 20 covered bridges dating back as early as 1920; many are listed on the National Register of Historical Places. Fourteen are still open to traffic. Maps and guides, available at area visitor centers, make these treasured landmarks easy to find.
Heceta Head Lighthouse - Capture a picture of Heceta Head Lighthouse, America's most photographed beacon. Built in 1894 she stands as one of the crown jewels of the Oregon Coast. While you're on Highway 101, don't forget to check out the Sea Lion Caves, also on the Oregon Coast, just minutes away from the lighthouse.
Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area - You haven't experienced board sports until you've done it on sand. Plan a trip to Florence, Oregon to see Sand Master Park - the world's first sandboarding park - for a lesson. Or for a trip on the less wild side and take a dune buggy tour.
Willamette Pass - As soon as snow season hits (late November) zip up to Willamette Pass for downhill skiing, snowboarding and tubing. The area offers five ski lifts, including a high-speed, six passenger lift that gets you to the 6,683-foot summit in as little as five minutes. Willamette Pass also offers 12 miles of cross-country trails.
McKenzie River - If you like roller coasters you'll love the McKenzie River's storied Martens Rapids. Whether on raft or kayak these class III's are sure to leave you wet on the dog days of summer and begging for more. Prefer to stay dry? Check out the riverfront hiking and mountain biking trails.
Hayward Field - Known as Track Town USA, Eugene, Oregon is home to the University of Oregon's Hayward Field. The site of three previous U.S. Olympic Trials -Track & Field Games plus the 2008 Trials, and the home track of Steve Prefontaine, Hayward Field is a mecca among runners.
