Lighthouses

The lighthouse restoration project is wrapping up with only minor landscaping projects around the base. The interior remains closed, possibly until late spring 2013. All scaffolding is down and the parking lot and trails are fully accessible. Thank you for your patience.

Heceta Head Lighthouse Rays, Oregon Coast by Stephanie Ames Perched on the rugged coastal cliffs of the Pacific Ocean, Heceta Head Lighthouse is a century-old working lighthouse standing 205 feet (62 m) above the ocean. Its lens still casts a beam 21 miles (34 km) out to sea, making it the brightest light on the Oregon Coast.

The Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint is a popular destination for picnics and day trips along the Oregon Coast.

As one of the most photographed lighthouses in the United States, Heceta Head makes a great stop for history buffs and sightseers alike.

The restored Keeper's House now serves as an interpretive center and a bed and breakfast with facilities for group events. Short trails lead from these two locations down to the beach where visitors can view wildlife refuge islands and occasionally spot sea lions, whales and puffins. During the summer months, guided tours are offered for individuals, educational groups, or historical societies and organizations at no charge.
