Visiting Eugene - Springfield

Just two hours south of Portland and three hours north of Crater Lake, Eugene - Springfield is a dynamic metropolis alive with green Northwest beauty, natural parks, lakes and rivers. The region's temperate climate invites travel and outdoor recreation year-round.

There are plenty of hotels and RV campgrounds in close proximity to the Interstate 5 corridor, downtown Eugene, and the Eugene Airport.

Cycling EugeneNestled in the agricultural Willamette Valley, Eugene boasts a strong regional food scene with innovative chefs, local farmers' markets and many natural food stores. Home to the University of Oregon Ducks, this college town is a vibrant destination with a wealth of performing and visual arts, museums, cultural festivals and many sporting events. Right in town there are great golf courses, cycling paths and access to the Willamette River for rafting, paddling or fishing.

Springfield Horse Statue by David PutzierThe adjacent city of Springfield is an antiques hub and gateway to the Cascades. Unsubstantiated rumors that this typical American town is the infamous "Springfield" of Simpson fame draws visitors to the city's Springfield Museum for photos with life-sized statues of the Simpson family. Pop into a local tavern, shop for memorabilia in the historic downtown, or ramble the community's beautiful riverfront parks. During the summer season, explore nearby lavender fields. Visit Springfield's Adventure Center for Crater Lake information.

Eugene - Springfield also offers many shopping opportunities from malls, galleries and boutiques to outdoor recreation stores like R.E.I. and Cabella's. Stock up on road trip supplies and groceries. With no sales tax, Oregon is the best place to shop for high-end purchases. Browse Eugene's downtown jewelry stores, exquisite antique stores, or the nation's largest on course pro-golf shop.
