International comedian Bassem Youssef will appear at the Hult Center as part of his "Stand Up, Stand Down, Stand Out" tour. Youssef, often called the "Jon Stewart of the Arab World," earned his fame buy hosting a popular political satire show in his home country of Egypt. After graduating from Youtube to a broadcast television, he quit his day job as a cardiothoracic surgeon to continue using his brand of comedy as a way to resist political upheaval in a rapidly changing country. The show, "Al-Bernameg," (Egyptian for "The Show") quickly became one of the most viewed TV shows and Youtube shows in Egypt and all across the Middle East. Youssef currently hosts the podcast "Remade in America" which covers culture, politics and society in America from an outsider's perspective.
