Celebrate the discovery of gold at the 59th annual Bohemia Mining Days festival with this year's theme, "Every Trail Tells a Tale." Entertainment at the festival includes a carnival, multiple parades, historical talks and tours, live music and performances, a costume contest, a treasure hunt, Gold Rush runs, kids rides and games and so much fair food. The festival celebrates the colorful history of Cottage Grove, All-America City and Covered Bridge Capital of the West. Coiner Park hosts more than 70 vendors, live music and living history demonstrators such as a fur trader, blacksmith and gold miners, while Bohemia Park holds the carnival. Other locations throughout the city also feature special happenings, including the community center, City Hall, the Gold Mining Museum, Cottage Theatre and more.
This years events schedule includes:
Main Stage Historical Talks - Thursday and Friday at 8:10 p.m. and Saturday at 6 p.m.
Live Music and Performances - Begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday and are on and off all day on Friday and Saturday.
Parades - Bloomer Parade on Thursday at 5 p.m. on Main St; Kiddie Parade on Friday at 11 a.m. routing through downtown; Grand Miners Parade on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Discover Cottage Grove Historical Treasure Hunt - Follow clues on a map to 13 checkpoints to get stamps and be entered into a cash drawing. Clues lead to historical sites around town that tell the history of Cottage Grove. Friday from 2 - 6 p.m. and Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; maps can be picked up at the Bohemia City train station.
Carnival - Rainier Amusements bring their carnival back to town with proceeds going to support Bohemian Mining Days operations. Advance all-day ride bracelets are available for $22.
Town Feud Contest: Slabtowners from west of the Coast Fork of the Willamette River compete against Lematians on the east. Register on Thursday to participate in friendly old-time games on Saturday starting at 12:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 12:45 p.m.
Gold Rush 5K and Kids Gold Rush Dash - The 5K is a twilight run on Friday at 9 p.m.; the Gold Dash is the next morning on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
Beer and Wine Garden: Thursday, 5:30 - 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, noon - 10 p.m.
Food Specials - Miners' Steak Dinner at 6 p.m. on Thursday in Coiner Park; Chuckwagon Breakfast, Saturday from 7 - 10 a.m.; Chicken BBQ at Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Ice Cream Social and Quilt Show, 4 - 8 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church; the Helena Saloon for kids, open all day, every day; Miners Breakfast on the Saddle on Sunday from 6 a.m. - 1 p.m.
