The Northwest's chief hiking expert William L. Sullivan will be at WildCraft Cider Works to share his newly released fifth-edition of his "100 Hikes" guidebook. Sullivan re-hikes trails every year to update his guidebooks that have become a necessity for hiking enthusiasts across Oregon. He also introduces new hikes with every edition, this time adding a new path along the Deschutes River and a new bird refuge trail near Salem, along with trails in the High Cascades that have been reopened. Learn about the new permit system the Forest Service is implementing to limit disturbances to the natural environment on heavily used trails. Sullivan will also discuss the effects of wildfires, interesting local history, native plants and outdoor lore.
