Sabrina Ratté is a video artist based in between Montreal and Paris. Her practice investigates virtual environments generated by analog technologies. Electricity, as raw material, is sculpted, transformed and altered digitally to be reborn as luminous and vibrating architectures. Her videos exist between abstraction and figuration, utopia and dystopia, architecture and landscape. This lecture will focus on her most recent video work contextualized within the evolution of her process over the years. She will present an overview of different inspirations, discuss her approach and talk about the different themes contained in her work.
Presented by the University of Oregon's Department of Art Visiting Artist Lecture Series.
