The Coast Fork Willamette Watershed Council welcomes Christine Buhl, Forest Entomologist with Oregon Department of Forestry, for Science Pub! Learn all that you ever wanted to know about urban and forest tree health as it pertains to insects. Ms. Buhl will provide a general overview of what makes trees tasty to insects, how to diagnose attacks from our more prominent pests, invasive insects to be on the lookout for and the benefits of forest insects. This presentation will answer questions like, why is my tree dying? What are those holes or globs of sap from? What’s eating those leaves? What good are insects to trees anyway? And what can I do to protect my individual urban tree or forested stand from insect damage? The Coast Fork Willamette Watershed Council hosts a free monthly public meeting series called the Coast Fork Science Pub on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
