The 2020 USA Softball Women's National Team (WNT) will stop in Eugene for a doubleheader against the University of Oregon and Southern Oregon University softball teams as part of the nationwide "Stand Beside Her" tour. The WNT is on tour across the United States throughout 2020 to prepare for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. The tour marks a homecoming for 2020 WNT member Janie Reed, who graduated from the UO in 2015.
Eugene fans will have the opportunity to watch the Red, White and Blue compete in a doubleheader at the UO Softball's Jane Sanders Stadium. Team USA will play SOU at 3:30 p.m., followed by a matchup against the Oregon Ducks approximately 35 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
The "Stand Beside Her" tour "evokes a powerful message of unity aimed to inspire communities to stand beside HER - the members of the WNT, America and the future generation of female athletes," according a press release from the University of Oregon.
