Vibrance and Serenity - Art of Japanese Nō Traditional Theater

Details

Japanese Nō is one of Japan's oldest and most revered theatrical forms and will be illustrated in an exhibit of prints at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art in "Vibrance and Serenity: Art of Japanese Nō Traditional Theater." Taking place on a small stage with minimal props, Nō is widely acknowledged as the epitome of Japanese simplicity and refinement. The prints depicting the performances are by Tsukioka Kōgyo (1869 - 1927) and encapsulate the elegance of costumes, masks and dynamism of Nō drama. Other forms of Japanese art are also show, such as paintings, calligraphy, books, ceramics, textiles and armor.
