Woman's Suffrage Tea

Details

Shelton McMurphey Johnson's Women's Suffrage Tea will kick off their year long celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment that gave women in America the right to vote. Afternoon teas at the historical house and museum feature tea sandwiches, scones, savories, dessert and freshly brewed tea in the style of Victorian high tea times, complete with table settings from the era. Prizes will be awarded for best Suffrage costume!

Teas at Shelton McMurphey Johnson, hosted on about eight weekends over the course of the year, enable the museum to raise funds so that they can stay open for six days a week, displaying rotating exhibits of their extensive collection and providing educational opportunities for the young and old alike.
