This 52,611-acre (21.290 ha) wilderness preserve features many small lakes and dense forest with the glacier-carved Diamond Peak rising 8,744 ft (2.665 km). 14 miles (22,5 km) of the Pacific Crest Trail pass through the wilderness right by the peak. Hikers and mountain climbers are drawn here, setting up base camps at Marie Lake, Divide Lake and Rockpile Lake. Wilderness regulations apply including maximum group size of 12 people and/or animals, seasonal permits, campfire and equipment restrictions. managed by the Forest Service. Designated in 1964. DAY-USE FEE AREA/RECREATION PASS REQUIRED.
