The Siuslaw River headwaters are in the hills west of Eugene, and the river winds its way westward to the Pacific, passing through Mapleton and paralleling sections of Hwy 126. It is approximately 110 miles (177 km) long and has a North Fork. At Historic Old Town Florence, the Siuslaw River flows under Highway 101's historic Siuslaw River Bridge and into the Pacific Ocean. At typical water levels it is a Class I, offering slower moving currents best for boating, floating, paddling, birding and fishing excursions. Fish species: Chinook salmon, steelhead and cutthroat trout.
