Spouting Horn is a natural ocean geyser that is powered by the force of the ocean. Incoming waves funnel into the cave and build pressure until the water bursts through a hole in the volcanic rocks. The name comes from the similarity to a whale blowing water out of its spout.
It can be accessed by a .8 mile (1.2 km) round trip paved trail that begins at the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center. There are many tide pools along the path to spouting horn and visitors are required to stay on the paved trail. Recreation pass or $5 day use fee is required.
