The Springfield Mill Race

Details
Yelp

The 3.5 mile long Springfield Mill Race was hand dug in 1852 along a natural channel from the Middle Fork of the Willamette River to the Mill Pond and back again to the Willamette River near Island Park. It's original purpose was to support the mills and the lumber industry. The Mill Race has been a source of power, irrigation, flood control and popular for canoeing, picnicking and fishing. The Mill Race is populated with Spring Chinook Salmon and Western Pond Turtles, among other fish and wildlife. The Mill Pond damn was removed and it is now a wetlands.
