Thor's Well

  • Address:
    Hwy 101
    Yachats OR 97498

On the edge of the Oregon Coast, Thor's Well appears to be a bottomless sinkhole that swallows the rushing ocean waves around it. This natural wonder is not bottomless but is actually a hole that spits crashing waves across the volcanic rocks.

Thor's Well is at its greatest during high tide and it can be accessed by a .8 mile (1.2 km) round trip paved trail that begins at the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center. Getting close to Thor's Well can be dangerous and visitors are required to stay on the paved path. Recreation pass or $5 day use fee required.
