Kitchens & Processing

Three local demonstration and incubator kitchens offer culinary instructors, entrepreneurs and event organizers the opportunity to share their skills, try-out ideas, and showcase culinary accomplishments. Kitchen rentals and shared kitchen space help facilitate new local food and beverage businesses. The kitchens at Sprout!, Lane Community College, and in the Stellaria Building provide start-ups with affordable access to top-of-the-line industrial kitchen equipment.

Sprout! Regional Food Hub - Springfield

Opened in 2013, this 3000 sq ft incubator kitchen is designed to support local culinary entrepreneurs and smaller food and beverage start-ups. Exquisitely equipped for large-scale food processing, cooking, baking and packaging; Sprout! provides the ideal venue for special events, educational sessions, recipe experimentation and ongoing production. Kitchen amenities include three gas ranges stove tops, a large stock pot stove, four ovens (one conventional and three convection), an electric griddle, a char-broiler, a food processor, two industrial mixers, ice machine, vacuum packing and heat sealing equipment, and many necessary cook and culinary-wares. Sprout! Demo-bar

The kitchen is conveniently laid out with a prep and cook area, baking station, packaging area, scullery, storage and its creme de le creme asset--an elegant demonstration bar. The open kitchen and demo-bar foyer expands via shed doors into the building's courtyard. Just adjacent the kitchen, Sprout!'s multi-purpose indoor ballroom space can accommodate larger events and groups.

Located in a renovated church building, this commercial kitchen space is aptly suited for use by farmers, caterers, foot cart owners and others looking to develop food businesses in Lane County. As a program of the Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation (NEDCO), Sprout! leases office space for other start-up businesses and offers business development classes and workshops. Kitchen rental is offered by the hour. Dry, cold or freezer storage rental is also available.

Center for Meeting & Learning - Eugene

Built for production and educational programs, the Wiper Demonstration Kitchen is an excellent venue for culinary competitions, cooking videos and demonstrations, cooking classes and workshops or special culinary events. Divided into six work stations, the kitchen features commercial Wolf six-burner stoves with full-size convection ovens. There is a two compartment deep fryer, char-broiler, vacuum sealer, and a variety of cook and culinary-ware. Three industrial sized refrigerators provide cold storage.

A demonstration table features an overhead mirror. There is classroom seating for thirty, black and white-boards and projection screen for power-point presentations or television. Lane Community College's culinary arts program is based from this kitchen and serves the Renaissance Room, an on-site student-run restaurant.

The Stellaria Building - Eugene

Emphasizing sustainability, and home to Hummingbird Wholesale, a regional distributor or organic bulk items; the Stellaria Building fosters community, efficiency and locovore start-ups.

Built in 2012, kitchen amenities include a six burner natural gas grande with double standard ovens, a 24-inch grill, two convection ovens, vegetable wash sink, dish sink with sanitizer, stainless steel prep tables, metro-cart, linen service, waste and recycling services, utilities and cleaning supplies. Kitchen rental is offered by the hour. Dry and cold storage rental is also available.

In Eugene there are three gourmet kitchen stores with small demonstration kitchens: Hartwick's, Pepperberries and Cook's Pots & Tabletops.
