Certified Meeting Professional (CMP)
In 2020, Juanita achieved her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) credential. The CMP credential from the Events Industry Council (EIC) (formerly known as the Convention Industry Council) is recognized globally as the badge of excellence in the events industry. The EIC is a non-profit federation of more than 30 U.S. and international organizations involved in the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry.
Dian J. Lindsay Award, Supplier of the Year
Juanita was recognized in 2021 by Meetings Professionals International (MPI) Oregon Chapter with the Dian J. Lindsay Presidential Award. MPI is the largest meeting and event industry association worldwide and the Dian J. Lindsay Award is given at the discretion of the current president to an outstanding individual in the chapter who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the organization. Following nominations from her peers, Juanita was also recognized as the MPI Oregon Chapter Supplier of the Year. "Fearless, friendly and faithful are words I can use generously to describe her (Juanita), noted Tara Thomas, former MPI Oregon chapter president. "She leads with heart and soul. Always has a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone she comes in contact with."
Equity, Diversity and Leadership Series Certificate
In 2022, Juanita successfully completed the Equity, Diversity and Leadership Series through Destinations International, a global association for destination professionals. The six-month class aids personal development and investment in being a changemaker in the individual’s destination and supports the creation of a diverse workforce.
Sustainable Events Professional Certificate (SEPC)
In January 2023, Juanita successfully completed the Sustainable Events Professional Certificate (SEPC) course through the Events Industry Council. The certificate requires completing 16 modules that include understanding the business value of sustainability, improving environmental performance of meetings and events, and effective methods for achieving social impact goals
Certified Government Meeting Professional (CGMP)
Juanita obtained her Certified Government Meeting Professional (CGMP) designation through the Society of Government Meeting Professionals (SGMP) in February 2023. This designation is designed for those whose work is governed by the rules and regulations of the federal government. Individuals who have earned their CGMP have obtained the highest designation available that is specifically for government meeting professionals.
Smart Women in Meetings Industry Leader Award
Juanita was recognized as an industry leader by Smart Meetings magazine with the 2023 Smart Women in Meetings award in March. Smart Meetings is a leading media company and trusted resource for meeting professionals. Upon receiving this recognition, Juanita was asked, “What one thing made all the difference?” She responded, “I strive to be a lifelong learner and a participant, not an observer in life. If I can continue to listen, observe, ask questions and learn then I am a better human. This enables me to be able to share with and assist others. One of the mottos that I live by is a quote from Audrey Hepburn, “We have two hands. One to help ourselves and one to help others.”
