Mobile Visitor Services Specialist

Purpose of Position

Inspire travelers to extend their stay in the Eugene, Cascades & Coast region and visit more than one part of our region through exceptional customer service, accurate information, and passion for the diverse recreational activities throughout the Eugene, Cascades & Coast region. Engage with locals and tourists at events and places of interest providing information on Lane County.

Position Requirements

  • Passion for and knowledge of Lane County’s adventure, culinary, and cultural offerings
  • Exhibit exceptional customer service
  • Function in a mobile environment with minimal supervision
  • Work easily & professionally with a variety of visitors, coworkers and clients
  • Loyalty to Travel Lane County; positive representation for the organization and area
  • Clear written and oral communication skills
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, internet)
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Professional and friendly demeanor when dealing with the public
  • Enjoy work as part of a team
  • Willingness to work weekends and evenings
  • Willingness to work holidays
  • Willingness to work on other projects during work hours if asked
  • Capacity to lift 35 lbs. from the floor and carry short distance
  • Stand for duration of an 8-hour shift
  • Maneuver our Mobile Visitor Center bicycle (MIKE the Bike) as well as able to ride it short distances
  • Use standard cleaning supplies


  • Distribute Lane County visitor related materials at major attractions, events and places of interest in Lane County and at key Oregon stops
  • Assist visitors with trip planning, accommodations, and recreational activities
  • Respond to requests for visitor/relocation information
  • Administer surveys and distribute questionnaires as needed
  • Maintain statistics:  location reports, member referrals
  • Maintain organization’s Visitor Van including brochure supply and cleaning
  • Other duties as assigned


This is a part-time, hourly non-exempt position working weekends and holidays in the mobile visitor van or at events and places of interest around Lane County. Sick leave is earned on hours worked, eligible for employer contribution to SEP/IRA after 2 years of employment.  This position reports to the Visitor Services Manager. Pay starts at $11.50/hr
