Tourism Marketing Coordinator

Purpose of Position

Support tourism, digital content and public relations to promote Lane County as a visitor destination. Must be a team player that is service-oriented, organized, responsible and energetic.

Responsibilities

  • Support media efforts (research, data entry, media pitches, ad placements and reports)
  • Assist with social media & content strategies (write, curate and post content; social listening)
  • Coordinate email marketing efforts (manage lists, write content, distribute and evaluate)
  • Coordinate various projects, including user generated content, photo contests and familiarization tours
  • Provide editing support for events calendar, business listings and other content
  • Assist staff, members and media with content, image and video needs
  • Provide daily support for visitor services (trip planning assistance, reception duties and retail sales)
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Degree in journalism, marketing or hospitality preferred
  • Passion for and knowledge of Lane County’s recreational, culinary and cultural offerings
  • Proficiency in mainstream social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest)
  • Exceptional customer service with a genuine desire to help
  • Clear written and oral communication – writing/editing/proofing and on the phone
  • Process-oriented, extreme attention to detail, hyper-organized and able to multi-task
  • Proficient with a variety of computer programs (database, Word, Excel, InDesign and Photoshop)
  • Ability to work easily & professionally with a variety of visitors and coworkers
  • Loyalty to and positive representation of Travel Lane County
  • Willing to work events after hours and on weekends when necessary
  • Eager to assist and follow directions
  • Able to secure an OLCC servers permit
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Able to lift 35 lbs. from the floor and carry

Compensation/Hours

  • This is a full-time hourly non-exempt position, hours are generally Monday-Friday with occasional evenings or weekends.
  • Benefits include medical and dental insurance as well as paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.  Employee eligible for employer contribution into SEP/IRA after 2 years of employment.
  • This position reports to the Vice President of Tourism
