A Spotlight on Social Media Platforms: Tools of Promotion and Engagement

Social Media is a whole new way to communicate and engage with others.  Understanding different social media platforms strengths and capabilities will set your event up for success.  This spotlight session will provide a better understanding of the most popular social media platforms and the best ways to leverage and utilize them. As well as highlight the importance of engaging with your target audience and how to gauge the effectiveness of your social media marketing efforts.

Rebecca AdelmanRebecca Adelman – Marketing Coordinator, Eugene, Cascades & Coast Sports Commission

A graduate of Western Oregon University, Rebecca began her career working in customer service and employee events at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla. She returned to Oregon to work as the Marketing Coordinator for Eugene, Cascades & Coast Sports Commission. In her spare time, she enjoys sampling the local wineries and breweries, reading and running.

Kellie BurchKellie Burch – Social Media Specialist/Account Assistant, AHM Brands

Kellie Burch is a Bay Area transplant and a graduate of the University of Oregon. She is currently a social media specialist / account assistant at AHM Brands in downtown Eugene where she manages the social media strategy and tactics for the Eugene Marathon.

Amanda ButtAmanda Butt – Web Producer, KVAL and KMTR News

Amanda Butt is a web producer for KVAL and KMTR News in Eugene. She focuses on creating engaging content for the two broadcast stations’ websites and also manages the social media pages. While working for KVAL and KMTR, Amanda has covered large sporting events such as the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field at Hayward Field, Ducks football games and the Eugene Marathon. She also produces content for weekly sports segments, KVAL’s “High School Gameday” and KMTR’s “Friday Night Fever.” Amanda graduated from the University of Oregon in 2015 with degrees in journalism and French. When she isn’t covering the news or sports, you can find her skiing, reading, or exploring Oregon’s great outdoors.

Brent MacCluerBrent MacCluer  Partner, AHM Brands

Brent MacCluer is a graduate from the University of Oregon's School of Journalism. His college internship turned into a job for a decade at KLSR-TV/Fox followed by being sales manager for Comcast Cable in the Willamette Valley. Brent became a partner at AHM Brands in 2005 where he's participated in the agency's work for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Track & Field, the IAAF World Junior Championships, IAAF World Indoor Championships and NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships.

Kelli MatthewsKelli Matthews – Sr. Instructor & Area Director, Public Relations, School of Journalism & Communications – University of Oregon
Kelli is well-known nationally as a communications and social media strategist with an ability to bring order to chaos and create processes and systems that bring more return on investment. She is the managing director of Verve Northwest Communications and also teaches public relations and social media courses in the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon.
