Volunteer Acquisition and Management

Volunteers bring their energy and passion to sporting events and are the life force that helps makes events successful. Finding the right volunteers and keeping them is important to all events. This session will be an opportunity to answer the question – what’s your in? Learn from other volunteer management professionals what their go to strategies are for recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers.


Kim LyddaneKim Lyddane – Special Events & Outdoor Recreation Program Manager, Willamalane Park and Recreation District

Born and raised on the east coast, Kim Lyddane fell in love with festivals and events growing up outside of Washington D.C. and while attending Emerson College in Boston, MA. Kim made the exciting journey to the Northwest to attend graduate school and study Arts Administration at the University of Oregon. She got her start in Parks and Recreation interning for Albany. Kim has worked on events everywhere from Baltimore, MD to Cambridge, MA and from Williamsburg, VA to Eugene, OR. In May 2012, Kim joined the Willamalane Park and Recreation team as their Volunteer/Special Event Coordinator and now serves as their Special Events and Outdoor Recreation Program Manager.

Becky RadliffBecky Radliff – Director of Staff & Client Services, TrackTown USA

Becky has worked for TrackTown USA since 2010, playing a pivotal role on the management teams for the 2012 and 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Track & Field, the annual NCAA Division | Track & Field Championships, and two international events: the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships and the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships. She was also a member of the successful bidding team for the upcoming IAAF World Championships - to be hosted by TrackTown USA in August of 2021.

Mike RipleyMike Ripley – Mudslinger Events DBA Oregon Trail Runs

Mike has been organizing and working in the area of adventure tourism and competitive events since early 1991, and since 2003 under the Mudslinger Events company name. In addition to cycling and running events Mike created the Alsea Falls Trail System with Team Dirt a 501c3 trail building group based out of Corvallis, Oregon and serves on the Resource Advisory Council (RAC) for the Pacific NW region of the BLM. Mike lives in Monroe Oregon with his wife and three daughters and is active in the sport of mountain biking and trail running with a focus on engaging the rural community and healthy active lifestyles.
