OAK HILL SCHOOL

Growing Curious & Caring Critical Thinkers

Located on 72 wooded acres in Eugene, Oregon, Oak Hill School is an independent, secular (non-religious) private school welcoming pre-K to 8th grade students. In addition to elevated academic standards that prepare students for higher education, Oak Hill students benefit from an immersive experience that includes foreign languages, nature education, outdoor pursuits, music, theater, visual arts, athletics and much more. We’ve found that when you nurture the development of each student intellectually, emotionally, morally and physically, they are bright, happy and engaged.

“The attention that Oak Hill pays my children on an individual basis is hugely important to me. My kids get a lot of one-on-one attention from their teachers. I am so impressed at the excellent education my kids receive here.”
–Leia Pitcher, Oak Hill Board Member, Parent
“This place is many, many things to me – my life, my family, my community. The importance of community at Oak Hill is that everybody cooperates, and everybody participates to build the education at this school.”
–Armando Morales, Oak Hill Spanish Teacher (retired)
“Teaching all the grades was magical to me. I came into contact with everyone, and I got to know many special personalities through their creativity. Each student could be comfortable expressing their spirit and their thoughts and their interpretations of life.”
–Diane Hill, Oak Hill Art Teacher (retired), Board Member
“We love the way each of our children gets individual attention from the wonderful faculty. It’s a family and a community that they’re building here. I love the way the teachers are attuned to the students in ways that we haven’t seen elsewhere.”
–Elliot Berkman, Oak Hill Board Member, Parent
“I’ve always been given the freedom to create and run programs here. I think, as a teacher, it makes you feel confident and good about what you’re doing – and it speaks volumes about the school’s willingness to let teachers be creative and branch out.”
–Jenny DeLuca, Oak Hill Physical Education Teacher, Cross Country Coach, Parent
“The fact that we have this campus and are able to utilize it in so many different ways – as a playground for the younger kids, as a study center for the older kids – to me, that’s unique. That and the language, music, art programs. Fantastic.”
–Jim Luzzi, Oak Hill Staff Naturalist, Outdoor Pursuits Specialist
“Every contribution is important – giving your time, giving back to the community that is helping to raise your children means a lot. Get out there. Help in the garden. Help in the art room. Do what you can because it’s appreciated.”
–Karli French, Oak Hill Board Member, Parent
“Once I saw what the school was about – the way the children were taught, the beautiful environment, the availability of all the specialist classes – I realized that this is what it should be, and this is how we should be teaching children.”
–Kim Davis, Oak Hill 5th Grade Teacher
“Oak Hill is such a wonderful community. It’s my work, but it’s also where I have friends – from my colleagues to the families. I enjoy watching students grow and learn and seeing our community expand. It’s an inclusive place to be and a wonderful thing to be a part of.”
–Lynn Dixon, Oak Hill Faculty & Curriculum

“The creative freedom that I have to build a curriculum that encompasses so many different things that I feel passionate about – different materials, different techniques and different artists – I love being able to share my enthusiasm and things that I learn with the students.”

–Melanie Pearson, Oak Hill Art Teacher
“As parents, what we’re really trying to do is raise kind, capable human beings who have a sense of purpose. One of the most amazing things about Oak Hill is that, as a family, we have found this amazing partner. I don’t know of any place, any partner that I would rather have to help us create these kind, capable, purposeful little humans.”
–Amelie Aust, Parent
