Artists Invited to Participate in Create! Eugene Plein Air Paint Out

Eugene, Ore. - Artists are invited to take part in a series of Plein Air Paint Out events in conjunction with the second annual Create! Eugene festival - a month long celebration of the arts spanning August 1 - 31, 2014.
Artists can register for the competition online to participate in the one-day paint out on August 20. Contest submissions will go on display in downtown Eugene's Kesey Square and winners will be announced during Eugene's Summer in the City-Downtown: Art Alfresco & Plein Air Showcase that evening. Artists will be competing for prizes and the opportunity to display and sell their art at a reception and show at The Lincoln Gallery in Eugene. Plein air fine artist Paul Zegers of Roseburg will serve as the competition's juror.
In-person Registration, Canvas Stamping and Goodie Bags at Oregon Art Supply
August 19, 3 - 8 p.m.
Registration will also be available the day before and the morning of the competition at Oregon Art Supply, a major partner in the Create! Eugene Plein Air Paint Out. Artists can get their canvases stamped for the competition at this time and choose both landscape and cityscape categories.
During this time, goodie bags full of art supplies, provided by Oregon Art Supply, will be handed out to Plein Air Paint Out competitors on a first-come first-serve bases while supplies lasts.
Plein Air Social at Hop Valley Brewing Company
August 19, 8 - 10 p.m.
Artists can network with fellow painters while enjoying live demos by art vendors Gamblin Paints, Golden Acrylics and QoR Watercolors. Plein Air Paint Out Participants will be invited to enter to win door prizes. Hop Valley Brewing Company is one of the area's largest craft breweries.
Canvas Stamping Morning of Competition
August 20, 9 - 11 a.m.
Canvases can also be stamped the morning the of Plein Air Paint Out Competition at Oregon Art Supply during a two-hour window. Remaining goodie bags will be distributed while supplies last.
Plein Air Paint Out Competition in Eugene
August 20 (Submissions due by 4 p.m.)
Registered Plein Air Paint Out contestants will spend the day painting landscapes and cityscapes on stamped canvases around Eugene. A map of suggested painting spots will be provided to those competing.

Kesey Square in Downtown Eugene
The Plein Air Paint Out Competition will come together in a festive, community event in downtown Eugene. Everyone is welcome to stop by and enjoy plein air painting demos, live music and the wine terrace. This year's juror, Paul Zegers, will select winners of the 2014 Create! Eugene Plein Air Paint Out Competition and prizes will be awarded.
Breakfast with the Juror at the Hilton Eugene
August 21, 8:30 a.m.
Everyone is invited to attend Breakfast with the Juror at the Hilton Eugene and Conference Center. As a new component of the Plein Air Paint Out, Paul Zegers, the guest of honor, will share his perspective on judging art and speak about the final award winners.
A Two-Day Workshop Led by Plein Air Paint Out Juror Paul Zegers at Aragon Alpaca Farm
August 23 & 24, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily
Paul will lead a two-day plein air painting workshop called "Take the Pain out of Painting Plein Air." During this class, Paul will teach participants how to paint quickly and beautifully. This workshop is open to artists of all levels.
