Free Family Day to Focus on Fishing
Saturday, March 22 - 10 a.m. to noon
Springfield, Ore. - Travel Lane County invites kids and their families to enjoy a morning of hands-on activities and learning focused on fishing in the local region.
What: Eugene, Cascades & Coast Kids' Adventure Club Spring Family Day
When: Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m. to noon
Where: Adventure Center 3312 Gateway St., Springfield
Special Guests: Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife, Cascade Family Flyfishers and Cabela's.
Activities: Fishing experts from the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife, Cascade Family Flyfishers and Cabela's will teach kids how to cast, reel, identify fish, and tie flies and knots. Kids will also learn about watersheds as they get their hands wet in an interactive stream simulator.
Cabela's will host a drawing for a chance to win one of several fishing rods that will be given away during the event.
Kids can also make a variety of fishing-themed crafts, including colorful, functional lures. Guests will learn about ideal family fishing venues, gear and upcoming events.
Complimentary juice, coffee and snacks will be served.
