Cascade Family Flyfishers Featured for Free Family Day

Travel Lane County's Kids' Adventure Club is hosting 'Fishing Fun' during its Free Family Day event on Saturday, March 3, 2018. Free Family Day events are drop-in sessions from 10 a.m. - noon. at the Eugene, Cascades & Coast Adventure Center off Gateway Street in Springfield.

Kids will experience casting for backyard bass, cast fly fishing lines, create fish-themed crafts, learn about stream management, enjoy a snack, and participate in a raffle.

Ever Tie a Fly?
Cascade Family Flyfishers will help you learn about nymphs and other bugs that fish love to eat! Take a turn at the fly tying vise and learn the best knots to tie.

Where do I Fish and How Many can I Keep?
You'll learn of the "65 Places to go Fishing in Lane County" and you will leave prepared to know what's legal to catch and what your catch limits are by picking up a copy of the 2018 Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations. The Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife also provides free fishing days throughout the year. Several of these days include opportunities for kids who don't own fishing gear to learn how to fish, so be sure to check the ODF&W website for a complete list of free fishing days.

This free program is geared toward families of elementary school-aged children. There will be crafts and refreshments provided. Quarterly Family Days are designed to connect the community with our region's abundant outdoor recreation opportunities. Plus, Kids' Club members receive a 20 percent discount on retail items (excluding Ticketswest purchases, maps and permits) at the Eugene, Cascades & Coast Adventure Center!
