Springfield, Ore.
- Kids and their families are invited to enjoy a morning of hands-on activities and learning focused on winter recreation in the Cascades.

Travel Lane County will host a free Winter Family Day on Saturday, Jan. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Eugene, Cascades & Coast Adventure Center in Springfield.

Experts from Willamette Pass Resort, Hoodoo Recreation & Ski Area and Berg's Ski & Snowboard Shop will share information about lessons, rentals, kids' camps, special events and tips for first-time skiers and snowboarders. Kid-sized snowsport equipment will also be available to see and try on.

Kids can make winter-themed crafts throughout the morning and enter to win prizes. Free hot chocolate, coffee and snacks will be served.

Travel Lane County hosts Family Day events on a quarterly basis focused on seasonal, family-friendly recreation, activities and events throughout Lane County.

Families can contact Travel Lane County to sign up for quarterly Kids' Adventure Club e-newsletters, event calendars and special invitations to upcoming Kids' Adventure Club events.

The Eugene, Cascades & Coast Adventure Center is located at 3312 Gateway St., in Springfield, in the Crossroads Center between Michaels and Best Buy.
