A little rain can’t stop our fun. Located near Autzen Stadium, Emerald Valley BMX played host to the DK Gold Cup Regional Finals this month. Over a three-day period, there were 107 rounds of final competitions. These were divided by age groups and skill level, including all ages from three to 70 years old. More than 500 racers competed on Sunday alone!
A wonderful event and sport that is geared towards the whole family, there is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to put something of this caliber on. Working with local groups and people to organize the color guard, secure a national anthem singer and assisting in recruiting on-site medical volunteers. We also worked with the University of Oregon to use the parking at Auzten Stadium.
There was also a free instructional event that Emerald Valley BMX to help any visitors or newcomers become more familiar with what BMX is all about. What many don’t realize is this is a very family friendly sport. Everyone can be involved from the younger to the older members of your family.
