Sports & Recreation

A temperate climate and natural landscapes suited for outdoor recreation, make the Eugene, Cascades & Coast region ideal for many sports.

Known as Track Town USA, Eugene is a hot spot for running. Miles of running trails align with scenic cycling routes. With the area's many lakes, it is no surprise that the county is becoming a triathlon center as well. Athletes come from across the U.S. to train at the McKenzie Community Track & Field in the Cascades.

And you can't miss Duck Football! Oregon makes the list at number ten for college football's Top 25 Tailgating Schools (2016) by the Bleacher Report. Fans cheer our many diverse sports teams from collegiate golf, basketball, volleyball and gymnastics; to minor league baseball and ice hockey; to community roller derby and soccer.

Golfers enjoy a plethora of golf courses, including spectacular courses adjacent coastal dunes. And Eugene offers the largest covered and illuminated skateboard park in the nation.
