Award - "Sustainable Sports Event of the Year"

Presented by The City of Eugene

Nomination criteria. When people talk about ‘Green’ events, they often only address the environmental piece--but sustainability includes important social justice and economic components.

The most basic elements of a sustainable event include reducing energy use, carbon emissions, water use, minimizing waste, supporting local businesses, providing access to everyone, and creating a positive legacy for the community.  Responsible events intentionally engage the community in their efforts while inspiring people to incorporate sustainability and health in their daily lives.

The SportsTown Award for "Sustainable Sports Event of the Year" will celebrate a local event, where the sports planner is taking steps to increase sustainability.

Award winners have been selected and announced for 2018.  2019 nomination information will be announced fall of 2018.
