J. Scott Cellars

J.Scott Cellars Wine Tasting

Sourcing grapes from the Pacific Northwest, J. Scott Cellars offers an array of varietals and blends. Experimenting is prized by winemaker Jonathan Scott Oberlander whose exceptional wines have caught the attention of "Wine Enthusiast" magazine. Jonathan paints an overview of Oregon's wine country from the Rogue Valley to the Columbia Valley with his extraordinary wines.

The tasting room for J. Scott Cellars is in the Westside Warehouse District in Eugene, a growing hub of urban brewers and vintners. Surrounded by blacktop instead of vineyards, the urban atmosphere sparks a unique, vibrant energy. When the garage door rolls up for the weekend, wine barrels are pushed back to accommodate cocktail tables. This unpretentious tasting room, right in town, is easily accessible year-round.

J.Scott CellarsWINE STORY

The story starts in California where Jonathan Scott Oberlander worked for Bernadus Vineyards and Winery. When he was offered a job at Silvan Ridge Winery, just outside Eugene, Jonathan and his wife, Bonnie leapt at the opportunity. They believed Oregon held promise for both winemaking and raising a family. After six successful years at Silvan Ridge Winery, Jonathan was ready to strike out on his own. He set up shop in a West Eugene warehouse facility.

Jonathan's approach to winemaking is rooted in traditional practices but he is unafraid to employ new technologies and innovations as warranted. A master of blending, he conducts classes on this art form. In addition to some 22 varietals and blends under his own label, Jonathan also dabbles in fruit wines like blueberry, marionberry and kiwi on behalf of River Rock Specialty Wines. His warehouse venture has grown to include a second tasting room on the Bay Front in Newport.
