LaVelle Vineyards

Lavelle pinot grapesLaVelle Vineyards is a small, family-owned winery near Fern Ridge Reservoir, just past Veneta. The vineyard tasting room sports a "Northwest lodge" look with cedar and stone siding. The covered patio and lush lawns attract a crowd during summer concerts held Friday evenings.

A large deck spans the top of the vineyard, originally built for family wedding nuptials, and now used as a charming picnic spot, or for special events. The deck overlooks the vineyards, Demming Ridge and Fern Ridge Reservoir. While you are visiting the winery, be sure to stop by the stone Labyrinth for a quiet, "walking" mediation.

LaVelle VineyardsWINE STORY

LaVelle Vineyards has its roots as the oldest bonded winery in the South Willamette Valley. Originally  established in 1968 as "Forgeron Vineyards," Lee Smith sold the facility and grapes to Doug LaVelle in 1994. Doug left 30 years of corporate business to settle his family on their dream vineyard. Piece by piece, the LaVelle family replaced the long standing equipment with new technology and then revamped the tasting room. They opened a second tasting room in Eugene at the Fifth Street Public Market, which prospered. Doug's son, Matthew LaVelle started working with him in 2006, eventually assuming the role of winemaker and becoming a full partner in the business. In 2013, they moved the in-town tasting room from the market to a thriving business neighborhood in Springfield.
