Pfeiffer Winery

Pfeiffer Winery Grapes by Jamie HooperPfeiffer Winery features both a cave-like tasting room lit by candles and an enclosed glass pavilion centered around a huge woodburning fireplace. Adjacent the winery buildings, a "water garden" with ponds and fountains are terraced into the hillside. The boutique wines made here are not sold in stores and are only available direct from the winery. That wasn't an obstacle for Washington D.C., however; which selected one of the Pfeiffer wines for President Obama's pre-inaugural dinner. Robin Pfeiffer, the winemaker, holds in-depth "pinot clinics" in the private grotto by reservation. This winery is rich in stories as well as fine wine, and a spectacular destinations for special events.

Pfeiffer Winery LogoWINE STORY

In 1984, Robin and Danuta Pfeiffer transformed their chicken and sheep farm into a vineyard after receiving inquiries from French investors seeking ideal sites to grow grapes. Now, over three decades later, it is one of the oldest vineyards in the South Willamette Valley. It was also the first solar-powered winery in the region. The Pfeiffers are fascinating - Danuta's shares her stories of Alaska tundra, television ministry, politics and cycling in her book, "Chiseled"; and Robin had his moment of fame as a calendar man in the infamous "Men of the Long Tom Grange Calendar" printed as a successful bid to raise funds for the local school district. Rub shoulders with the Pfeiffers' at one of their Villa Evening Wine Dinners which feature five course meals with entrees grilled over grapevines, and of course, paired with Pfeiffer wines.
