Hayward Field

In 2020, the stadium was re-built at Hayward Field prior to hosting the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Track & Field and the World Athletic Championships Oregon22. Its new innovative design pays tribute to the historic legacy of TrackTown. The adjacent community of Springfield shares in the community's running heritage, as the home to Bowerman and numerous other track stars and significant road races.

Additional organizations coordinate and manage a variety of road races, trail runs, triathlons and meets including Eclectic Edge Racing and Level 32 Racing. And USA Track and Field, USATF Oregon Association and the University of Oregon are strong partners for track and field.

Be part of the magic! Give of your time or financial donations year-round to support local track events. Volunteer roles may include greeters, ushers, timers, supply station attendants, recyclers, cleaners and more. Be an ambassador for the community, a support to the athletes, and a vital part of keeping our track events friendly, clean and green. Application requirements and processes may vary, so please contact the individual organizations. 

Track Legends 

Track legend Steve Prefontaine ran for the University of Oregon track team, amazing crowds by winning every American running record between 2,000 and 10,000 meters in 1975. Since then, many other amazing track and field athletes have followed, becoming local heroes, and many, even Olympians.
