Gaze out at millions of twinkling lights of the metropolitan areas. The magic and beauty of nighttime cityscapes have their own romantic appeal, best enjoyed from the heights of rooftops, balconies and hilltops. Here are some of the best spots to enjoy city lights.

Lane County Fair
Eugene - Springfield Metro
Right in the heart of Eugene is Skinner Butte — a perfect "lovers' lane" overlooking the city skyline. Drive or hike to the top of the hill for a spectacular 360-degree view of Eugene - Springfield. From here you can see the University of Oregon's Autzen Stadium, Willamette Street pointing directly to the opposing butte — Spencer Butte, and snow-dusted mountains ringing the valley.
You can also soak up the city lights from the upper floors of downtown Eugene hotels like the Graduate by Hilton Eugene and The Gordon Hotel, or relax with city views from a rooftop restaurant at The Gordon or Hyatt Place.
During the Lane County Fair, view the city from the top of the Ferris wheel or the swings.
Several roads in the vicinity offer sparkling vistas as you drive, such as Chambers and City View. Other great lookouts require some hiking but the views are fantastic! If you choose to hike to a vista for city light views, please make sure the park is open and bring a flashlight. Always let someone know where you are going and do not trespass on private property.

View from Best Western Pier Point Plus Inn
City Lights on the Oregon Coast
Another spectacular view of twinkling lights is from across the Siuslaw River on the Oregon Coast looking toward Historic Old Town Florence. Stay or dine at the Best Western Pier Point Inn with gorgeous views of the shops and restaurants along the waterfront.
