It doesn't need to be giant like FAO Schwarz for an enchanting toyland shopping experience. In fact, the charm of smaller "mom and pop" toy shops in Eugene and Springfield can make for some pretty magical memories.

If you are looking for a hard-to-find, collectable, or just much-desired and ideal gift for kids or grown ups alike — start with the right toy store. Our local boutique and speciality toy stores are built with the enthusiasm of small business owners. Find passionate and knowledgable shopkeepers and their staff to help you pick out the perfect present. Often it is the personable experience that ads value to your new-found treasure — so different from the big box "Toys 'r' Us" environment. Independent toy stores serve as both curators and museums for American culture, but like many small businesses, they need support to stay viable as seen in the 2020's docuseries "A Toy Store Near You".

Radar Toys

Little kids? Big kids? Adults? Collectors and kids will go wild here. From wooden blocks to video games, from plush toys to action figures, Radar Toys has an extensive collection of new toys. In fact, their inventory is so huge and easy to look through online that you might be tempted to just shop from home — but we recommend the in-person visit in West Eugene. The spacious shop has vintage toy displays tucked in corners you might not expect, like the restrooms! Take your time browsing so you don't miss a thing.

Replay Toys

Vintage favorites fill up the cases and shelves in this South Eugene hideaway. From GI Joe, Star Wars, Star Trek and Marvel action figures to retired Lego sets featuring microcosms of Disney, Star Wars, NASA and more, there is sure to be something to spark your interest. Replay Toys' open hours may vary, but many items are available online.

Flying a Toy Plane

Saturday Market

Not exactly a toy store, yet the Saturday Market has a playful atmosphere appealing to all ages. Discover juggling balls, twirling batons, dolls and puppets, costume masks, bells and knitted booties. There is plenty to intrigue and delight children with magic and wonder. Pair shopping with a beverage or delicious food to-go and enjoy the whole experience. During the winter holidays, this market expands magically into even more of a wonderland, temporarily moving to the indoor Lane Events Center and expanding its hours.

Down to Earth

Tucked amongst the gourmet housewares and gardening supplies is a wholesome selection of children's treasures. Find warm knitted hats and gloves, plush animals, purses, journals and kid-focused gear and get-ups like wings and wands. While toys might not be top-of-mind to bring you to here, be ready for your children to make a bee-line to this section and fall deeply in love with some "must have". Down to Earth is a really special place to shop — it just feels right for gift giving!

Eugene Toy & Hobby

Five generations of the Agerter family have kept "Santa's workshop" stocked since the 1920s. Eugene Toy & Hobby is a classic toy store with a huge focus on hobbies like model trains, model planes, remote controls, dollhouses and miniatures, craft and science kits, art supplies and more. Remember Scratch 'n Sniff stickers? Found some here! This is also a great place to get questions answered as the staff is very knowledgeable about both vintage and modern toys. They sell a lot of parts and can help you get things fixed. You can shop online but it's much more fun to come in and re-discover cherished pastimes.

Elephant's Trunk

A birthday party go-to, Elephant's Trunk has both the top trending toys and the classics you'll remember from your own childhood. From board games to dolls to jigsaw puzzles, the inventory is simple and dependable. Price points run the gamut, so you can give your child a budget for a party gift and be assured they'll find something they can proudly gift, while taking notes for their "Santa" list of wild and crazy big wishes. Brands include Haps, eeBoo, Janod, Toysmith, Schylling, Lego and more. There are two store locations, one in Valley River Center and one in the 5th Street Public Market. At 5th Street, bring extra quarters if the children are accompanying you so they can ride the classic coin-operated animals.

Bricks & Minifigs

If you love Legos, you've just found a little piece of paradise in Eugene's Whiteaker neighborhood. Bricks & Minifigs sells all the new Lego brand merchandise and kits, but they also sell other types of brands and bricks. And here is the big thing — brick re-sale! Sift through tables of bricks to find just the right pieces you need. Fill a small, medium or large bag with bricks, windows, doors, hinges or other random pieces. Or call ahead to request help assembling a grab bag or identifying a specific mini-fig that you've been seeking. The owner has his own Lego-loving kids and is an enthused Lego expert.

Books With Pictures

Think comics, cartoons and graphic novels. This approachable, inclusive and welcoming store caters to families that love the comic book genre and are interested in discovering even more illustrated options. Books With Pictures opened their boutique storefront in 2020.

My Little Children

While primarily resale clothing, this boutique children's store in North Eugene does have a solid selection of new toys, like Melissa & Doug and Hape, and frequently features really nice used toys and books too. My Little Children is also a great place to trade your gently used toys.
