Where to Shop for Running Gear

Published: July 20, 2022

Shopping for running shoes in TrackTown USA is high on the list of things to do when visiting Eugene, Oregon. After all this is where Nike's first waffle-soled running shoes were crafted on Bill Bowerman's waffle iron! The running stores in Eugene are also staffed with passionate runners themselves, and they can help you find the best fit for your foot and make informed running shoe selections. Plus, shop for UO Duck mementos to take home, or Pre t-shirts for family and friends.

While Phil Knight no longer sells the first prototype "Blue Ribbon" shoes out of the back of his bus at Hayward Field, the now famous Nike brand, along with other top running shoes, is proudly on display at all local running stores.

Eugene Running Company

Oakway Center

Eugene Running Company is a family-owned and community-loved, full-service running and walking store. A favorite among local runners of all levels, the staff is known for their exceptional customer service. Come here to be custom fitted for the best running shoe for you! Eugene Running Company provides complimentary stride evaluations — videoing you walk or jog on their in-store treadmill and analyzing your movement to match it to the right shoe design. You can also bring in your old shoes to look for wear patterns. Then compare over 18 industry-leading brands to identify the shoe that fits your unique build and movement. Through education, physical therapy clinics, marathon training and encouragement; Eugene Running Company is dedicated to growing the enthusiasm for running.

Run Hub Northwest

Downtown Eugene

Run Hub Northwest was founded by a passionate runner, eager to share all the inside tips of running and to build community. Using digital foot scanning equipment and gait analysis, the staff at Run Hub Northwest will make shoe recommendations. Evaluations are complimentary, and you can also join their family rewards program for future discounts. Alongside shoes, socks and apparel, they sell a wide range of on-the-go nutritional products. Get a proper fit, stock up on bars or gels, then lace up and head out on one of their popular group runs offered weekly, possibly concluding with a cold craft beer. Or join the weekly parent stroller run!

The Nike Store

Market District

On the corner of Market Alley in the Market District, The Nike Store is an obvious must-visit shopping destination. Shop the latest fashion designs and ogle the slick shoes that you'll doubtlessly see on champion runners this season. Nike outfits the University of Oregon athletes from track to football, and Oregon claims to have the best dressed football team in the nation because of it. Check out in-store displays that pay tribute to Nike's Eugene-based heritage and roots. Then run over to the Graduate Eugene hotel just a few blocks over to see their Nike running shoe collection enshrined as a museum exhibit in the lobby and lounge area.

The Duck Store

UO Campus, Autzen Stadium, Valley River Center, EMU

The Duck Stores are not specific "running stores" but they have a lot of great athletic apparel that runners love. These student and Duck fan shops offer University of Oregon branded t-shirts, sweatshirts, pants, hats and other merchandise from jewelry to the clear stadium bags approved for Hayward Field. Originating as the student bookstore, The Duck Store is a treasure trove of gifts, trinkets, books, computer accessories, clothing and collegiate must-haves. You might even find Oregon Duck Nike running shoes.
