Matthew Knight Arena
Address:1390 Villard St
Eugene OR 97403
The largest indoor arena in Eugene - Springfield; Matthew Knight Arena is well suited for big events, entertainment, concerts, conferences, sports and exhibitions. While it is the primary home to the University of Oregon Duck basketball teams, to date the Matthew Knight Arena has accommodated everything from bull riding to faith rallies to Circque du Soleil to rock concerts. Watch UO men's and women's volleyball and gymnastics here. And of course, basketball!
The Matthew Knight Arena features 12,000 seats augmented by over 200 televisions throughout the facility, and a massive Jumbotron-style scoreboard — the largest scoreboard in an NCAA arena. State of the art technology enhances both the athletes', performers' and the audiences' experience.
The arena was one of the first LEED Gold certified arenas in the NCAA, contributing to the UO's green initiatives. It was designed to support public transportation and bicycle access, so there is ample bicycle parking and easy shuttle and bus service during events. This massive venue is also architecturally stunning and culturally enhanced with commissioned artworks celebrating pioneer spirit and people power.
The facility is home to two regulation-size basketball courts and one regulation-size volleyball practice court. The floor level has spacious on-site athletic training and weight training facilities as well as a nutrition bar. A large flat concourse encircles the arena with 50 concessionaire stations, over 200 toilets and two Duck retail shops. Additionally the building has private club rooms and four loading docks.
The Matthew Knight Arena borders the University of Oregon campus and is adjacent to the Ford Alumni Center, another great event space. It is conveniently located near Franklin Blvd hotels, and within walking or rolling distance of diverse local dining.
Matthew Knight Arena was built in 2010 to replace the aging McArthur Court at a cost of over $200 million. Born out of a love for Oregon, and supported by two of Oregon's most successful and enthusiastic alumni: Nike's Phil Knight and former Oregon Athletic Director Pat Kilkenny. The arena is named for Knight's son who died at age 34; and the custom and distinctive basketball floor was designed as a tribute to the Kilkenny family.
