During the Vietnam War, 63 military personnel from Lane County lost their lives. They are honored at this Springfield veterans' memorial on the corner of Mohawk Blvd and I St. A large monument is etched with a soldier carrying a M-16 rifle while a Huey helicopter hovers in the background. Each veteran's name is engraved on the reverse side. On November 10, 2017 an additional sculpture was dedicated to all women veterans serving in combat - the first in the state. On-site there is also a cannon, flag pole and benches for reflection.
