Sweet Cheeks' story began in 1978 when owner, Dan Smith, planted a vineyard on a rolling hillside in Crow, Oregon. After a hard day of work, he looked out over the vineyard and noticed the curious shape of the land, and he christened the vineyard with the name Sweet Cheeks. At this point in time, starting a winery was only a dream. Dan continued to farm the land, supplying Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Riesling grapes to local wineries. When a building in Junction City, Oregon came up for demolition in 2003, Dan took a big chance and relocated it on the hill atop the vineyard. Thanksgiving of 2005, the doors of the relocated building opened as the tasting room, marking the beginning of Sweet Cheeks Winery & Vineyard.
