The Waldo Lake Wilderness is 36,572 acres (14,800.16 ha) and is adjacent one of the purest lakes in the world. Waldo Lake is also Oregon's second largest natural lake, and second deepest. The lake is encircled by the Jim Weaver Loop National Recreation Trail with three campgrounds outside the Wilderness area. The Pacific Crest Trail crosses 2.7 miles within the eastern wilderness and many more trails traverse the area. Wilderness regulations apply including limited group size, permits, campfire and equipment restrictions. Managed by the Forest Service. Designated in 1984.
