2022 Visitor Industry Celebration Award Recipients Announced

Eugene, OR - Travel Lane County's President/CEO Kari Westlund provided a state of the industry address and Bev Smith, Executive Director of Kidsports brought a keynote speech on the importance of the 50th anniversary of Title IX.

The Visitor Industry Awards recognize individuals and organizations that have contributed significantly to the Lane County hospitality industry. "It was exciting to come together to celebrate our region's hospitality partners as part of the our 2022 Visitor Industry Award Celebration," noted Kari Westlund, Travel Lane County President/CEO.  Recipients.were recognized in six award categories and award videos may be viewed by clicking the links below.

Convention Leadership

The Convention Leadership Award is presented to a local resident(s) or business that is directly responsible for the confirmation of a meeting or event, which brings in a significant number of overnight visitors to Lane County. Rikki Wellman, Oregon Logging Conference, was recognized with the 2022 Convention Leadership Award

Sports Leadership

The Sports Leadership Award is presented to a local resident(s) or business that is directly responsible for the confirmation of a sports event, which brings in a significant number of overnight visitors to Lane County. Michael Reilly and TrackTown USA was recognized with the 2022 Sports Leadership Award

Destination 

The Destination Award is presented to a business or individual who, through their efforts, have excelled in promoting the community and the Eugene, Cascades & Coast as a visitor destination. Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus was recognized with the Destination Award

Stewardship 

The Stewardship Award is presented to a business or organization that creates greater business/organization value through its demonstrated commitment to its people (social equity), the planet (environment) and profit (economic value). PeaceHealth was recognized with the 2022 Stewardship Award

Community Leadership

The Community Leadership Award is presented to a group, business or individual that has significantly contributed to the Eugene, Cascades & Coast region's tourism industry or visitor experience through an advocacy program(s), visitor product(s), or community development.  Jessica Thomas, South Willamette Valley Wineries Association, was  recognized with the 2022 Community Leadership Award

Legacy 

The Legacy Award is a special honor bestowed by the Travel Lane County to those who have made a meaningful and lasting impact on our visitor industry. It is an honor for us to present this award to a true pioneer. Louise Shimmel, founder of Cascades Raptor Center, was recognized with the 2022 Legacy Award.
