Local Cities Make the Cut

Published: October 22, 2021

Eugene, OR - Travel writers and travel sites are looking for communities that set themselves apart and recently the cities of Eugene, Cottage Grove and Florence were highlighted as places with a vibe and amenities that set them apart.

Florence and Cottage Grove have been recognized by the site Travel + Leisure as one of "The 12 Best Small Towns in Oregon for Historic Charm, Organic Wineries, and Adventure Treks." Travel Lane County has known this all along and our staff has put together a variety of content that will help you plan a day or overnight trip to these special communities. Check out Florence Getaways to learn about options for enjoying a day in Oregon's Coastal Playground. For those interested in a valley outing, Cottage Grove offers walks around town to walks to nearby waterfalls. See film and community history through the Cottage Grove Mural Walking Tour  or put on your hiking shoes and take the entire family to view three waterfalls in one day. Waterfall Wandering in Cottage Grove lays out your adventure with everything you need to know.

Making the 2021 Top 100 Best Place to Live in America list from LIVABILITY is Eugene. Attributes called out include the University of Oregon and Lane Community College, industry leaders like PeaceHealth and a whole host of things to do and see. A growing urban wine scene is developing and for a preview take a look at Eugene's Top Urban Wine Bars

Congratulations to these cities and to all our Lane County communities who make up the Eugene, Cascades & Coast region. To support these communities and the businesses that provide great Oregon experiences to residents and visitors each day, plan to Support Local this holiday season and consider a staycation as part of your holiday travels.

For more adventure ideas, stop by our visitor center (754 Olive Street in Eugene) from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday or give us a call at 541.484.5307.
