Travel Lane County welcomes Kate Walkup to the Eugene, Cascades & Coast Sports Commission staff. Kate graduated, Summa Cum Laude, with a B.A. in Journalism and Media Studies from Linfield University in McMinville, Oregon. While at Linfield she competed as a swimmer and was named Northwest Conference Scholar-Athlete all four seasons, First Team All-Northwest Conference, 2021–22 and 2022–23 seasons and two-time Northwest Conference Student Athlete of the week recipient, 2020–21 and 2022–23. Kate worked locally with TrackTown USA as an content creator and communications intern.
Kate will be the Sports Commission's sales and marketing coordinator. In this role, Kate will play a pivotal role in advancing the Eugene, Cascades & Coast region as a premier sports destination through targeted sales and marketing initiatives.
In the realm of sales, Kate will develop and vet local and regional leads for sports events, and ensure follow-up and confirmation of rebooked business. On the marketing front, Kate will conduct research and help craft content for diverse platforms, including industry publications, websites, blogs and presentations. Overall, the Sports Sales and Marketing Coordinator will be a key player in elevating the region's profile as a sports destination.
