We’re gearing up for another outstanding track and field season in TrackTown!  Businesses and residents are encouraged to discover ways to engage and get involved in the action.

Witness the 20th anniversary of the Oregon Relays on April 4–5 or experience nationwide collegiate competitions at the Oregon Open on April 18–19 and the Oregon Team Invitational on April 19. The 50th edition of the Prefontaine Classic on July 5 is sure to be an unforgettable event. Additionally, you can attend the historic combined USATF Outdoor Championships and USATF Para National Championships from July 31 to August 3.

For Residents

Join the Action

If you're a resident looking to make the most of TrackTown's vibrant track and field and running scene, there are plenty of ways to get engaged. Consider participating in one of the Eugene Marathon events from April 25-27. Competing in the Oregon Track Club (OTC) All Comers Meets at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon is another fantastic option. You can also register for the Hayward Classic or challenge yourself by running the Butte to Butte

For those seeking even more excitement, experience one (or more!) of the local races or shakeout runs in Lane County. Trail races provide a thrilling way to test your endurance, and joining a local run club group run is an excellent way to connect with fellow runners.

Join the buzz of TrackTown by dining at local restaurants throughout the season, where you may have the opportunity to interact with some of your favorite athletes. For those looking to gear up, consider supporting local running stores like Run Hub or Eugene Running Company

Keep an eye out for special events and activities that enhance the TrackTown experience during some of the major track and field events this season.

Volunteer

Achieve "insider status" by volunteering at one of the upcoming events. Helping out at the OTC All Comers Meets or at TrackTown Events meets is an impactful way to contribute. You can also join the volunteer team at the Eugene Marathon to play a role in this exciting event - opportunities may include set-up, water and food stations, first aid, crowd management, time keeping, clean up and more.

Support the Running Community

Cheer on runners during the Eugene Marathon or Butte to Butte as they race through your neighborhood! Ring cow bells, clap and cheer at route sections where encouragement is needed. Being part of the crowd support is easy and rewarding.

Supporting a local charity during the Eugene Marathon is another great way to make a positive impact.

For Local Businesses

Welcome Athletes and Fans

Local businesses have a unique opportunity to welcome athletes and fans to TrackTown. Consider offering your gym, track or training facility to visiting athletes and teams.

Enhance your storefront by displaying Welcome to TrackTown community branding to celebrate the season or support the sport by contributing to the Oregon Track Club

Find a Partnership

Connecting with the Eugene, Cascades & Coast Sports Commission is a great way to find a track event partnership match and provide meaningful support to TrackTown events.

For Hospitality and Tourism

Enhance the TrackTown Experience

Businesses in the hospitality and tourism sector can enhance the TrackTown experience in several ways. Organizing special events or offers for visitors during track season can attract more guests to your establishment. Providing discounts or promotions for athletes and their families is another excellent way to show your support.

Restaurants can offer specials during the entire track and field season or for a specific event. Consider specials like a Bowerman Burger or TrackTown Tacos. Maybe offer a themed cocktail like the Mondo Martini or a Mutola Margarita. Offer a Prefontaine Pie special for the 50th Anniversary of the Prefontaine Classic. Steve Prefontaine's favorite dessert was key lime pie, and he was known for having graham cracker crumbs in his mustache after enjoying it.

Get Inspired

Businesses have offered event-specific specials in past seasons. The Hop Valley Brewing Jogger Lager collaboration with the Eugene Marathon combines craft beer and running culture. This special edition beer celebrates the spirit of the marathon and the vibrant Eugene community. Adding to the excitement, Thinking Tree Spirits hosted a “Dress like Pre” contest, where participants channeled legendary runner Steve Prefontaine's iconic style.

Deck out your business for the 2025 track and field season to create a welcoming and festive atmosphere. Lastly, staying open late for fans after meets can provide a perfect post-event gathering spot for athletes and supporters alike. Check out the schedule of events to learn more about event timelines or contact the Eugene, Cascades & Coast Sports Commission if any questions arise.
