Guide to Late Night Dining

Published: June 25, 2021

The event has wound down, the show is over, the match complete, the victor declared... but your evening has just begun!

Where can you go late at night for a good meal, a nightcap or a cup of coffee? Pandemic protocols have shortened hours and restricted the usual late night scene but there are still places to grab a bite to eat before bed.

These are some of our favorite places that are closest to event hubs and stay open until at least 10 p.m. or later on weekends. As always, hours and availability are subject to change without notice, so it's a good idea to call ahead.

South University Neighborhood - Close to Hayward Field

Beppe & Gianni's Trattoria

Sunday - Thursday, 5 - 9 p.m.; Friday & Saturday, 5 - 10 p.m.

Beppe & Gianni's is an enchanting Italian restaurant in a historic home across from Prince Puckler's popular ice cream parlor. Secure reservations in advance if possible or expect a wait as this is a beloved local destination. Enjoy an upscale experience and extensive wine menu. Limited patio seating is available.

McMenamins East 19th Street Café

Daily, 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.

McMenamins is a northwest craft brewery chain with an exquisite atmosphere at each of its unique locations. This late night spot is just a short walk from the University of Oregon and Hayward Field. With a top-notch menu, great beer and patio dining, this casual but excellent spot is a popular college and family go-to.

Inside the comfortable dining room their walls are adorned with posters and memorabilia from UO track and field, football, basketball and more. Tried and true pizza is always a successful late night choice.
