Horseback Riding

Enjoy horseback riding along rushing rivers, through lush green forests, over shifting sand dunes or across wide open beaches at sunset. Magnificent horse trails crisscross the Eugene, Cascades & Coast region, making this a natural horseback riding destination. Local ranches offer guided horseback tours, riding lessons, kids' pony rides and birthday party packages.

Triple Rise Equestrian Center offers horseback riding lessons and training for hunters and jumpers in their beautiful facility. Summer camps for children are also available. The Eugene Pony Club for young riders has group rides, classes and shows. C&M Stables is the premier trial riding destination on the Oregon Coast offering rides through the dunes and along the beach.

From corral rides to all day mountain trail excursions, all skill levels can explore Oregon by horseback.

TRAIL RIDES

Trail rides are abundant here, from wide open coastal beaches to gentle rides through wine country to riverside jaunts in the Cascades. Discover equestrian state parks close by, some only fifteen minutes from Eugene's city center. Peacefully meander on a trail under a dense canopy of evergreen trees and reconnect with nature.

Elijah Bristow State Park on the Willamette River provides riders with more than 10 miles (16 km) of trails including a portion of the Eugene to Pacific Crest Trail. A separate staging area with tables, water, electricity, and a restroom add to the convenience of this destination. Just outside Florence, equestrians can enjoy a beautiful beach ride at Baker Beach.

Equestrian Community

Every July, the Eugene Pro Rodeo is held at the Oregon Horse Center. In 2012, The Back Country Horsemen of Oregon hosted their national board meeting in Eugene. These volunteer trail stewards preserve the beautiful riding trails and protect equestrian interests. Visitors traveling with their horses can stay at local farms with stables.
